ROWLETT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL
"Raising a Standard of Quality Christian Education in Rowlett, Texas..."
At Rowlett Christian Academy, our staff are highly qualified and love teaching and working with preschoolers! Our two teachers work together to create meaningful teacher-student relationships and plan amazing learning opportunities for students. My name is Amber Hayes and I have been working in various aspects of teaching and child care for over 14 years, 6 of them at Rowlett Christian Academy. I have a specialized degree in Child Development Administration in the state of Texas and preschool is my favorite age to teach! I have been married to my wonderful husband, Charles, for seven years. He is also our resident "classroom helper" and helps with field trips and special events. We have lived here in Rowlett for six years." I have been happily married to my sweetheart Darrell for 25 years. The Lord has blessed us with two beautiful children who are grown and married now and we been recently blessed with two grandsons. Mrs. Tammy Simpson is our office administrator among many other things! Her mother, Mrs. Dena Gregory, was the founder of Rowlett Christian Academy in 1993 and Tammy has continued the traditions of Christian Education with RCA Preschool. Tammy has been happily married to Norman for 28 years and has one son, Brandon, 24, who is getting married to his sweetheart Chelsey this August. She is fondly known as "Mrs. Tammy" around the classrooms and can be found in the office or sticking her head in for hugs and to check out our activities!
We would love for you to get to know us!

PRE-K #1
My philosophy in teaching is to instill preschoolers with faith characteristics they can apply in their everyday lives and present them with opportunities to explore and discover the world around them! I believe in going above and beyond to help students reach their full potential and learn and grow each day. I strive to present activities, theme units and projects that are creative, interesting and fun for my students!
I believe that each child learns at their own rate and in their own individual learning pattern, so I endeavor to spend one on one time with each student on their own level, helping them focus on what they need to learn new concepts! I spend a lot of time planning activities that are exciting and imaginative that go along with the learning goals for the day, week or unit! My K-1 learning centers include: Art, Music and Movement, Science and Discovery and Dramatic Play. I also further my students' learning through American Sign Language and Spanish.

PRE-K #2
Hello! My name is Karla Reaves; I am the Pre-K 2 teacher. I have been teaching for 15 years and still love coming to work everyday. I have taught at RCA for 13 years, nine of which I taught kindergarten. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching kindergarten and could not imagine teaching any other age until I spent a year teaching Pre-K. I believe God has given me a heart for children and a desire to see each of them as the individuals He created them to be.
In Pre-K 2 the students will learn phonics, handwriting and reading using the Abeka curriculum. Science, social studies, music, numbers, and language will be taught through theme based active learning activities. The students will be taught on their own level of development, abilities, needs, and interests. Some basic language skills will be introduced in Spanish and American Sign Language.
